We're building something big and robust for merchants that relies on receive-only NWC codes. Our research suggests that currently only Alby and Rizful support making receive-only NWC codes. Can anyone suggest other NWC-capable wallets which easily allow a user to generate a receive-only code?

Rizful has a longstanding code -- probably over a year -- where it refuses to send to zeuspay addresses. This is for security reasons. Zeuspay addresses are often used when a user is offline and can't receive an HTLC, which can lead to channel jamming attacks.

"Lightning fails in about 30% of the time." ?!?!? We run some of the biggest and most central nodes on Lightning and see extremely low failure rates. Are you sending Lightning payments with a potato? We obviously cannot see the failure rates for other services, but for Rizful and Alby, unless you are doing something very wrong, you should almost never have failures.

So this is a situation when you are trying to totally empty your lightning balance, like you have 50 satoshis in lightning balance, and you want to send (ideally) all 50, but have to try for example 30, or 40, or 45, in order to find an amount that will clear the fees on the network (across all the hops to your destination) -- do I have that right?

Basically the idea with these gift cards is "how do we educate normies about really basic Bitcoin ideas?"
The most basic thing is "what is a Satoshi" -- like, the vast majority of normies don't understand that a Bitcoin is even divisible!
So... our idea (maybe it's stupid?) is that we can onboard normies VISUALLY by sending them two things.

We recently posted about issues with TOR with Megalith LSP. That was incorrect. The issue is actually unrelated to Tor. We're narrowing in on users who are running CLN (Core Lightning) version 26.04 -- which has a known incompatibility with LND. Thanks. To be fair: The reason the LightSpark's API (as used by Primal, WoS, others) is sometimes quite slow and unstable is because LightSpark has to deal with all the complexity of Lightning... ON TOP of all the complexity of their proprietary API/platform.
So when you have a problem with LightSpark, it could be Lightning, it could be their platoform, or it could be the interaction between Lightning and their platform. ;)
Rizful is more reliable and much lower latency because we're 100% focused on Lightning and haven't attempted to build an enormous sand castle on top of Lightning.... and also because we run one the biggest routing nodes on the network, so we can be laser-focused on Lightning relability.
That said, LightSpark is doing what they are doing for fairly good reasons -- and it might be worthwhile for some users to put up with the problems in return for what LightSpark is offering.....

Also, FYI, there are two versions of Rizful -- a "paid" version, where you get your own Lightning node, and a "free" version, if you don't. Any testing you do should be done with the "free" version because that NWC service provided by the "free" version is actually superior in some subtle ways to the NWC service provided by the paid version. To launch a "free" Rizful instance, just make a Rizful "vault". thanks.

I think this is 100% untrue. LSPs like Megalith do a huge amount of the routing activity. And there are dozens of small and independent players like Rizful. Also, since Lightning is private, nobody can really tell you where the traffic actually is…..

Thanks. Totally understand why you want to do this. Did some reviewing.... I think it might be time for these application to step up and support Lightning addresses. Adding Keysend to Rizful will be a big project, and any big project in Bitcoin comes with risks.... Keysend was never really ratified as a Lightning standard and it's best for many reasons to encourage Lightning addresses instead of keysend.... sorry...

Good point. SENDING would be much safer and easier to implement. I want to study CoinOs' implementation first. I just checked the CoinOs web interface, and I don't yet see a way to send a keysend using that... so maybe it is NWC only? In that case.. can you recommend which applications that users would typically be using to send these keysend payments (presumably they have NWC support?)

Sorry, didn't respond to that yet. The issue is that Keysend really is designed to "send a payment to a lightning node". It works great with our paid service, where everyone gets their own lightning node... and also with Alby Cloud, which we recommend highly.
To try to use it with a "shared node" setup like with the free version of Rizful -- I think it's just too risky.

Note for users of the new Primal wallet: The new wallet denoted as "self-custodial" by Primal uses Spark.
Spark is an API provided by the Los Angeles company LightSpark. ( https://www.lightspark.com/ )
LightSpark is a competitor to Megalith & Rizful, so we're generally committed to keeping our mouth shut with regard to LightSpark's overall merits.
But: everyone should know that LightSpark payments over the Lightning network can have significant LATENCY......
LightSpark is doing quite a lot of complicated stuff "on top" of the Lightning network.
If, for example, you were using the previous Primal wallet (provided by Strike), you might have been able to zap a user and get a confirmation of successful zap within 1 to 2 seconds. Using LightSpark's API, by contrast, our tests indicate that a zap confirmation can take upwards of 10 seconds. (TEN SECONDS!)
We're bringing this up because we're seeing a lot of "I can't zap" complaints recently.
If you're having problems, check your lightning address service -- if it's run by LightSpark -- in this includes many wallets marketed as "self-custodial", such as Breez, Wallet Of Satoshi, Primal, and others.... it might be that you CAN zap and zaps DO work, but that you're just not used to waiting 10 seconds for a confirmation, so you're giving up and closing out of the zap attempt early....

In our experience, there can be challenges if you try to rely on ACINQ as a routing node. ACINQ should be reliable for reaching Phoenix wallet users, but I would not necessarily rely on ACINQ to route outbound payments to elsewhere on the Lightning network.
Same with WOS -- if you run your own node, channels with WOS or ACINQ will be most useful to reach users of those services.
If you want reliable routing to the whole network, I'd suggest a node that is really optimized for reachability -- for example -- Megalith, Megalith LSP, Megalith Small Channels, Zeus, Ln.Server, Cyberdyne.sh... and lots of others.
The other thing is that Lightning is really is an always-on protocol. If you are running a node behind Tor or behind a flaky internet connection -- or both -- you can expect in some circumstances to have stuck HTLCs.

If it works with Alby Go, I think that shows that the problem is not on the NWC side, but on the application side. I'd recommend trying a different nostr app -- Yakihonne maybe on a different device or try the Alby browser extension on desktop.
