Most people working on core are independent contributors who built up their own reputation via hard work (gloria is one example).

I was able to add static bpf tracepoints to core because i thought it was better than having random logging everywhere.

gloria decided to fix the mempool so that lightning worked better.

All of these changes were concrete proposals that incrementally made better.

I don’t know who you are or what you are even talking about. Are you here to propose an improvement to bitcoin or just bitch at core people.
